Candi Dasa

History:
Previously, Candidasa is known as the Gulf of the will. However, since this area was opened to tourist attractions, the name Candidasa began to be used. There is no record / report regarding the background definitely Candidasa name. However, considered the selection of this name is associated with the story of "phallus" on the inside of the temple which is located in Candidasa hills.
Codex mentions that Candidasa Temple was built in the 12th century. There are "commemorative" contained in the temple which is believed as a symbol of Lord Shiva. In this shrine is said to be able to get the highest award or "heaven" by uttering ten letters called "Dasa Literacy" (Dasa means ten).
Another story says that the name Candidasa inspired by a statue near the phallus. The statue is the statue of Goddess Hariti surrounded by 10 children. It is believed that the blessings of Goddess Hariti provide prosperity and welfare to those who pray there.

Location:
Candidasa is located in the village Samuh-Bugbug, Karangasem district. About 65 km from Denpasar and 12 km from Amlapura.
